This was the best show I’ve been to since Horse the Band this past SXSW.
Girls, or groupies, rather, that feel the need to be standing on the stage while they’re wasted and wearing heels, that also feel the need to kick actual adoring fans in the face repeatedly, that don’t actually know the music, that are “rocking out” with their cell phones in their hand, that go to shows just to photobomb and/or have their pictures taken with the band, those girls put a damper on it. Getting thrown out for hitting this described atrocity in the face (in self defense and fed-up’dness) put a damper on it. Seeing Born of Osiris playing the best fucking set ever and having the good fortune of standing in front of Marc Okubo for Veil of Maya’s ear-turned-eye candy was probably as much as I could ask for. It makes me feel so passionate about music and art. Structures played that night, but it was unfortunate that they didn’t have it together and restarted their intro song because the 808, but their new stuff was really good and interesting live. They look better on a smaller stage than Antone’s, but Emo’s downtown closed. Betraying the Matyr played and so did Carnifex, and I guess they weren’t so bad.
Oh, photocred: Described atrocity’s probably more sensible and less drunk friend3 notes
